Lisa Thompson, Psychology Lecturer

Lisa, who currently a Lecturer in Psychology at Truro College, will be developing and delivering an exciting and successful Psychology A Level course at Callywith College. Lisa will also be a tutor at the College, as part of the strong pastoral care Callywith will offer.

What is your background in education?

Since graduating from Oxford University in 1992 and obtaining my teaching qualification a year later, I have enjoyed a long and happy career as a Psychology teacher and lecturer in a variety of outstanding educational settings including my current role as a Lecturer in Psychology at Truro College.

What inspired you to pursue a career in education?

My A Level lecturers inspired me to become a teacher.  Their dedication and passion for their subjects had a huge impact on me and I enjoy passing on my own love of Psychology to my students.

What will your new role involve?

I will be developing and delivering an exciting and successful Psychology A Level course.  I will also be a tutor at Callywith College, as part of the strong pastoral care the College offers.

Why do you think Cornwall needs Callywith College?

To give as many students as possible the opportunity to receive an outstanding education without having to travel huge distances.

What about working with Callywith College are you looking forward to the most?

I’m looking forward to teaching the new students and working with a highly dedicated and enthusiastic team of colleagues in an amazing new building with state-of-the-art resources.

What one thing about you might surprise people?

I’m a bit of a Doctor Who fan and collect memorabilia – I have more than a few Daleks at home!

When you’re not working, what is your favourite thing to do?

I enjoy upcycling vintage furniture and taking my two dogs for long walks on the beach.
