A Level and BTEC students receive excellent university offers

A Level and BTEC students at Callywith College have bright futures on the horizon as they receive excellent university offers from across the country.

Alex Knobloch, who is studying A Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and German and attended the Academic Academy, has achieved an impressive five university offers. His top choice is Oxford University, where he hopes to study Chemistry.

Alex, a former Devonport High School for Boys student, shared: “I’m feeling very happy to have received all my offers and I’m very excited about starting uni especially the independence and meeting new people.

“My Personal Development Tutor and Chemistry Lecturers at Callywith were very helpful while I was writing my personal statement. They also conducted a mock interview with me, which was very helpful in preparation for the real thing.”

Jess Berry, who is studying A Levels in Business, Law and Sociology, and attends the Hockey Academy, has received five university offers with her preferred choice being Cardiff Metropolitan University to study Sport Media.

Jess, a former Launceston College student, shared her excitement: "I am happy with the offers I have received and I’m excited to start studying at university. I am looking forward to meeting new people and playing a lot of hockey at university.

“Callywith has supported me through the process of writing a great personal statement and helped me to apply to the universities fit for me and the course I wish to study.

Looking to the future, Jess shared: “I hope to work in the Sports Media industry, broadcasting sports events and interviewing athletes as this is a job role that excites me.”

Rhianna Tregonning, a BTEC Level 3 Health & Social Care Diploma student, has received three university offers so far, with her top choice being Plymouth University to study Paramedic Science.

Rhianna, a former Poltair School student and Cadet Teacher and Lead for St John Ambulance, shared: “I am feeling very excited about my offers, Paramedic science is a very competitive course, so I feel very lucky.

“I am anxious about going to university but also looking forward to the new experiences I will gain. I am really looking forward to my placements throughout the course and being able to be on the ambulance first-hand, attending real-life emergencies and helping people in the worst stages of their life.

“Being at Callywith has really inspired me to continue my career in paramedicine. My units in anatomy, physiology and microbiology have really encouraged me to help people. My lecturers have really helped me to navigate my future and decide whether university was the best option for me.

“In the future, I want to become a paramedic, ideally locally in order to give back to the community that I have been raised in.”
