Truro and Penwith College staff have been given a tour of the new Callywith College campus, as construction of the state-of-the-art building in Bodmin marches ahead.
Kier Construction Project Manager Steve Lee led the tour which, as well as giving the staff early access to see work on the site, allowed them to get a first glimpse of what will be an unrivalled view across Bodmin and beyond from the third and fourth stories.
The tour also provided a great insight into the scale of the new College, which will be open for its first intake of students in September 2017, including the vast area which will become the latest, all-weather 3G Astroturf sports pitch where students will take part in football, rugby, hockey and other outdoor activities. The layout of the stunning glass entrance, indoor sports hall, refectory, learning centre, classrooms and the gymnasium were also highlights.
Site tours for the public will be available throughout 2017, in the meantime Callywith College’s on-site Application Suite is open every first and third Saturday of each month until May 2017 on these dates. Students and parents / carers can call into the suite between 10am-2pm to talk to staff and get a view of the site from an aerial viewing platform.
