Destinations Day offers students insights into future pathways

At the start of term, we held our Destinations Day for second year students, providing them with a valuable opportunity to explore various progression pathways beyond college.

Throughout the day, students attended a series of talks featuring over 50 employers and institutions including Babcock, Imerys, Bailey Partnership, Idenna Creative, Screen Cornwall, Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, SUEZ UK, CIMSPA, The British Army and Devon & Cornwall Police.

Students discovered more about a wide range of specialist job roles including nursing, architecture, creative careers, veterinary surgery, psychology, law, accountancy, photography, fashion design, marketing, science & engineering, sports coaching, IT software development, police, army, pharmacy, teaching, games design, social care and midwifery, plus much more.

They also participated in presentations on starting your own business, gap years, student finance, apprenticeships and higher education options from University Centre Truro & Penwith, Falmouth University, University of Plymouth, Plymouth Marjon University and the University of Exeter. Additionally, students had the opportunity to hear first-hand from higher education student ambassadors, who shared their experiences and insights into university life.

It was also brilliant to welcome back former Level 3 Applied Science Extended Diploma student Miles Everitt to share his experiences as a Mental Health Nurse.

Our next Destinations Day for first year students will be held on Tuesday 11th February 2025. Additionally, we will be hosting a series of subject-focused networking lunches throughout the year.
