New courses added for September 2021
Callywith College have responded to the demand from prospective students to expand its offer by adding six new courses to its outstanding provision for September 2021.
Building on the success of its Ofsted Outstanding rating in January 2020, being ranked as the top sixth-form college nationally for qualification achievement rate and topping local league tables for A Level results in Spring 2020, the College has now expanded its offer of the widest choice of A Levels and Level 2 and 3 vocational courses in North and East Cornwall.
The new courses available to students starting in September 2021 include A Levels in Classical Civilisation and Film Studies, Level 2 Media, Level 2 and 3 Performing Arts and the Extended Certificate in Applied Human Biology (equivalent to one A Level). The addition of these courses increase the opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience within the College’s state-of-the-art facilities including media and photography studios, a dedicated drama studio and theatre space and fully-equipped science laboratories.
The additional courses compliment the College’s existing offer which include A Levels in English Literature, History, Politics, Media, Biology and Drama and Theatre Studies. The new Level 2 Media and Performing Arts courses will now also provide the opportunity for students to gain the skills required to progress onto Level 3 courses in these subject areas at the College.
Callywith Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning Allyn Jefferies said: “The Callywith College Trust has approved the addition of these new courses as it continues its mission to work in association with Truro and Penwith college to offer a broad and comprehensive tertiary curriculum from the Callywith Campus.
“Callywith College is an outstanding provider of both A Level and vocational courses and addition of these new courses, increases the options for students choosing us for their post-16 study and benefit from our outstanding facilities, teaching and student support.”
Online applications for the new courses are now open for September 2021 and the College’s next virtual open event will be held online on Saturday 27 February 2021, 10am – 1pm.
