Performing Arts students put on a show to remember
Second year Level 3 Performing Arts Diploma students delivered an amazing performance of ‘RAVERS’ by Rikki Beadle-Blair as part of the prestigious National Theatre Connections Festival.
This dynamic production is part of the National Theatre Connections Festival, showcasing exciting new work by young performers across the country. The students will also be performing the play at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth on Wednesday 30th April.
A National Theatre Director attended the performance and gave students feedback in preparation for their regional performance in Plymouth. 10 groups from all over the UK will be invited to perform at the National Theatre in London as part of a week-long theatre festival in July.
Performing Arts Lecturer Steve Wilde, who directed the fantastic performance, shared: “I am incredibly proud of each and every one of the students for the dedication, creativity, and resilience they’ve shown throughout this process. From the first rehearsal to opening night, they have poured their hearts into this production - collaborating, problem-solving, and pushing themselves beyond their comfort zones to bring Ravers to life. It’s been a joy to watch them grow not just as performers and theatre-makers, but as a true ensemble, supporting one another every step of the way. Their hard work, energy, and passion are at the core of this show, and I couldn’t be more impressed by what they’ve achieved!”
On the night, members of the audience shared their feedback on the performance with one saying: “Knowing all the hard work the students put into the production, the staging, lighting, music, but above all the acting, was a whole new level from many of them.”
Other audience members said: “The actors embodied their characters with all their foibles brilliantly. The sound and lighting were expertly devised and implemented,” and “Fantastic energy, well executed, loved it!"
A massive well done to all performers, crew members and staff involved and thank you to everyone who came to watch the show!
